Ash is Cold - Tim Portlock
April 5 - May 3, 2019
Tim Portlock’s work combines visual effects software and the conventions of 19th-century American painting. In recent years, his large format print images have depicted landscapes populated with the empty buildings that surround his part time home as well as developments in post-boom and bust Las Vegas. For his current solo exhibition at Monaco, Ash is Cold, Portlock’s work depicts home foreclosure capital era San Bernardino CA and images based on interviews of residents of Camden, NJ in which they were asked to describe the city to the artist.
