Out of the pile of printed matter that is Grafik House, comes this stylized representation of the humble print shop.

"The Shop, Primarily" is a 3-part installation of the physical studio and the littered remains of anything that has ever been put into this world by the handful of transplant artists that call the print shop home.

The Artists that have devoted the countless hours and supply the endless amount cryptic imagery and textural disorder are as follows:

  • Andy Villanueva (Woodcut)

  • Elizabeth Hermanson (Intaglio)

  • Emmett Merrill (Stone & Plate Lithography)

  • Everett Gee (Comic Arts & Screenprint)

  • J.T. Felix (Shop founder and toiler of graphic arts)

  • Samantha Mendoza (Woodcut)

Other images featured may be dissected from any artist/friend of the shop, illustrator, graphic designer, tattooer, clothing company, restaurateur, corporate event, family reunion, bands and musical artists that have commissioned anything printed.

BIO

J.T. Felix

b. 1990

J.T. Felix (born May 3, 1990), was raised in the suburbs of Jacksonville, Florida and spent most of his time trying to escape reality by rummaging through trash heaps and building forts in the woods with his dog. Eventually, he found himself in high school where he spent time looking through closets full of old commercial artist books, copying typefaces and learning traditional ways of image reproduction.

In 2011, Felix received his Associates Degree of Arts at Florida State College of Jacksonville. He spent the next few years working alongside independent musicians creating and printing album covers, posters and other merchandise.

In the fall of 2014, he packed up his salt encrusted garage shop and headed west to further his practice as a Printmaker and Illustrator. He accepted a three-year apprenticeship at Tom Huck's Evil Prints in St. Louis, Missouri, where he worked with Huck as a Press Assistant and cut his teeth with the day-to-day grind of running a print shop.

It was in the winter of 2019 where the waterlogged dream of opening the screenprinting studio known as Grafik House came to fruition. After a few years and builds, the traditional printmaking studio now houses every printmaking medium and several artist members.
